Thank you for your continued support and for sticking around as I share more about the recent changes in our little bubble of balance
In my last post, I mentioned the business’s new name, “Reactive Dog Training.”
Today, I want to delve deeper into the reasons behind this shift and share the story behind the name.
While it’s easy for most to assume it’s solely because I specialise in working with reactive dogs, the decision was much more than a mere name change.
It was a reflection of my journey and growth as a dog trainer too.
Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in various canine environments, from boarding and rescue kennels to puppy classes and obedience training.
However, my focus shifted about five or six years ago to specialising in working with reactive dogs. Those grappling with fear, anxiety, and aggression.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact that my training and empathetic understanding can have on their lives, as well as on their owners and I want to restore the great reputation of reactive dog training, in an industry cluttered with imposters.
The term “reactive” resonates deeply with me because it not only encapsulates the essence of what I do, aiding dogs in navigating and overcoming their reactive behaviours through reinforcement and compassionate training methods.
Yet, it’s also about acknowledging and addressing both ends of the leads issues and triggers in a nurturing environment, enabling you both to flourish and build confidence, together.
Though the term “reactive” doesn’t entirely align with my vision, it’s one that resonates with many individuals dealing with sensitive dogs.
However ‘sensitive dog training’ didn’t really have the same ring to it!
By embracing this new name, I aim to reaffirm my commitment to facilitating harmony between reactive dogs and their owners.
It’s not just about training for me, it’s about fostering understanding, empathy, and trust across the board, between humans and their beloved companions, benefiting both parties in the process.
As I embark on this new chapter filled with various forms of reactivity training, I invite you to join us in celebrating the new journey!
Let’s start with sharing more about your dog with me
Simply email and tell me about them.
Who are they? What breed and age? How long have you been working on their reactivity? What are your major successes and challenges?
Tell me everything!
Few dog owners work as tirelessly as those who care for reactive dogs and your enthusiasm and dedication to your dog’s education will inspire me every single day.
Next, I’ll be sharing a particularly memorable story about a dog that has profoundly influenced my training methods and ethics. And no, it’s not Titon or any of my own dogs.
Stay tuned for more insights, stories, and valuable tips in the days ahead.
